YRA REYBEL - BIOGRAPHY AND TRAJECTORY

YRA REYBEL

Dominican artist, born in the city of San Felipe, Puerto Plata, DR, on October 24, 1983.

She began writing at an early age, participating in contests offered by Al Compás magazine from Listin Diario and Disesa, held at the National Theater for young writers in the 90s, and later in contests for writers organized by the Cultural Renewal Society.

Meanwhile, she started her music career in 1998 with the Gargo Group. In 2001, the trio made their television debut on the children's program "Sábado Chiquito de Corporán," with which she continued until 2006.

Her first book was independently published in 2004. Four years later, in 2008, she published "Omega The Last Vampire," her first novel with Black Cherry Editorial. The first digital publication was through Amazon Kindle in 2013. Some of her notable novels include "LA ULTIMA SOSPECHA," "EL HOMBRE PERFECTO," "WARS TOYS," and others like "MOONLIGHT SHADOW," which includes illustrations by the author. Her books are available through her official publishing platforms, Amazon, Amazon Kindle, physical bookstores, among others.

In 2006, she debuted as a soloist under the direction of Carmela Samboy, Gustavo Rodríguez, and maestro Nathanael González, with her first single "L’arrivo" (The Arrival), a romantic pop song with two versions (Italian-Spanish, Spanish-Italian). The song was launched on the variety program "MAGAZINE AMERICA TV" on ANTENA LATINA, CHANNEL 21, and ended the year live and nationally on the special Christmas program by journalist Carlos Julio Félix, broadcast from the city of Pedernales, DR.

"JUST DO IT!" is her second single released in 2007, which reached "la Zona de MTV" in 2008, securing second place in the final and receiving positive reviews from this prestigious company. Currently, Yra has MTV DEMO achievements (Most Popular Artist and Most Popular Song) as well as Our Stage achievements (Top 100, Top 40, Top 10), where her music style is described as "Elegant Pop." Yra continues with her third single, this time titled "NEUTRAL" (MAXI SINGLE), a dark and emotionally charged song. It is worth noting that Yra writes both the lyrics and melody for her songs.

In 2010, she collaborated on the soundtrack of the Spanish TV series "LUCY & LEO," written by actress and screenwriter Elena Maurandi, directed by maestro E. MASAKOY.

In 2017, she was invited to participate in the cultural program "Viernes de Cultura" with Rafael Ortiz and model Frenny Fermín on channel 3. Her main section, "Tendencias en redes sociales," received a positive reception from the audience.

In the same year, Yra joined the film project of Puerto Plata, promoted by INFOTEP and the Pastoral de Comunicaciones, which aims to develop the seventh art in that province. Along with a group of colleagues, video works were carried out in which Yra had the opportunity to be a scriptwriter and director of both shorts: the first an adaptation of the short film "El Regador Regado" by the Lumière Brothers, and the second short film ("El Asesino de Sueños") based on a short story included in Yra's anthology called "Crescendo" (Detrás de la Puerta). This project, instructed by Rafael Álvarez, a renowned Dominican filmmaker, also had the participation of other students and cinema enthusiasts.

Fun facts:

Contrary to popular belief, the pseudonym Yra Reybel is an acronym of her real name (Yra) (Rey) (Bel), using the last three letters of her name and the first three letters of each of her surnames. This is because Yra refused to exclude her mother's last name from her artistic name, leading to the pseudonym being a fortunate choice.

The motto of her production, "Voluntarious" (As long as there is will, there will always be a way), aims to inspire present-day artists to look toward the future.
